The three TradeDay drawdown types

TradeDay lets you choose how your floor behaves. Intraday trails your highest balance in real time, unrealized profit included, so a spike you give back still moves the floor up. EOD recalculates once a day from your end-of-day balance. Static is a fixed floor at your starting balance minus the static amount; it never moves, but it comes with a lower profit target.

Locking at the starting balance

The two trailing types lock at your starting balance. Once your highest balance reaches your starting balance plus the trailing amount, the floor freezes at exactly your starting balance. TradeDay’s own 100K example puts it plainly: the floor starts at $97,000 and freezes at $100,000 once your balance hits $103,000. There is no extra buffer, which is the main difference from Apex’s Safety Net.

No daily loss limit

TradeDay has no daily loss cap on any account, so the drawdown floor is your single hard line. That gives more intraday freedom than a firm with a daily limit, but it also means one bad run can reach the floor with nothing stopping it earlier. Knowing where the floor sits is the whole game.

Frequently asked

How does TradeDay drawdown work?
You choose the drawdown type when you buy the account. Intraday trails your real-time high including unrealized profit; EOD recalculates once a day off your end-of-day balance; static is a fixed floor that never moves. Trailing amounts are $2,000 on a 50K, $3,000 on a 100K, and $4,500 on a 150K.
Where does the TradeDay trailing floor lock?
At your starting balance. Once your highest balance reaches your starting balance plus the trailing amount, the floor freezes at the starting balance. TradeDay uses no extra buffer, unlike Apex which locks $100 above start.
Does TradeDay have a daily loss limit?
No. TradeDay imposes no daily loss limit on any account. Your only hard floor is the drawdown, which is what this calculator tracks.
Which drawdown type should I pick?
Static gives the most predictable floor but a lower profit target. Intraday is the strictest while you trade because unrealized spikes ratchet the floor. EOD sits in between. Switch types in the calculator to compare the floor each one gives you.
